What is Epithalon (Epitalon)?
Epithalon refers in the research literature to the four-residue Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly (AEDG) peptide. It is not the same as the three-residue AED peptide associated with Cartalax. Spelling and salt-form differences across catalogs warrant exact identity confirmation rather than relying on a common name.
What has research examined?
An older laboratory study reported telomerase expression/activity and telomere elongation after adding Epithalon to cultured human fetal fibroblasts. A later cell-line experiment examined normal and breast-cancer cell lines, finding telomere-related changes in some studied conditions. Neither measured survival, aging outcomes, or clinical benefit in people. FDA has flagged potential immunogenicity and peptide-impurity concerns for compounded epitalon and states that it has not identified safety information for the proposed route.
Telomere changes in cell culture are not a validated longevity therapy; telomerase biology in cancer cells also makes simplistic anti-aging interpretation inappropriate. FDA safety information is insufficient, and neither study validates a supplier’s vial, preparation, or use.
