What is DSIP (Emideltide)?
“Delta sleep-inducing peptide” is the historic DSIP name for emideltide, a nine-residue peptide. The name reflects an early research hypothesis, not proof that a labeled product induces healthy sleep or treats insomnia. Free-base and acetate forms are separately discussed in FDA’s compounding context.
What has research examined?
An early double-blind crossover study involved just six healthy volunteers and measured acute and later sleep parameters. Another small study examined six people with disturbed sleep. Such small samples and old designs do not determine a reliable clinical effect or long-term safety. FDA notes possible immunogenicity and peptide-impurity characterization concerns for compounded emideltide and reports insufficient safety information for proposed administration routes.
Experiments with six participants cannot establish a sleep-disorder treatment. FDA’s proposed-route safety information is inadequate; neither the old study procedures nor supplier labels validate a vial’s identity, preparation, or use. This page provides arithmetic only from user-entered values.
