What is HCG (Research)?
hCG is a hormone with alpha and beta subunits that acts on luteinizing-hormone/choriogonadotropin receptors. It is often measured as a pregnancy marker; particular prescription formulations have labeled indications. A hormone assay result, a labeled USP-unit product, and a research-vial mass are not interchangeable quantities.
What has research examined?
FDA-submitted prescribing information for Pregnyl describes chorionic gonadotropin sourced from the urine of pregnant persons and specifies particular labeled indications and biological-unit strengths. This establishes an approved-product context, not an approval for every research vial sold as HCG. Biological activity units cannot be inferred from a generic mass number without a validated exact-product relationship.

Calculation boundary
Approved hCG products are labeled in USP biological units, and activity is product-specific. A generic mg-to-mL-to-U-100 chart here cannot convert biological IU to mass or validate a separately sourced research vial; any arithmetic must be anchored to exact-product labeling rather than a guessed equivalence.
