Melanocortin clinical research

PT-141 (Bremelanotide)

Bremelanotide is a melanocortin agonist studied in phase 3 trials. Vyleesi is an FDA-approved specific autoinjector product; a generic research vial does not inherit that approval.

Why there is no compound calculator on this page

FDA-approved Vyleesi is a prefilled autoinjector with an exact labeled formulation. A generic reconstituted-vial/U-100 conversion would be misleadingly substituted for its instructions and contraindications.

Research overview

What is PT-141 (Bremelanotide)?

PT-141 is a development name associated with bremelanotide, a cyclic melanocortin-receptor agonist. It differs from Melanotan II and afamelanotide. Approval, clinical effects, and formulation belong to Vyleesi and its narrowly defined labeled use.

What has research examined?

Two placebo-controlled RECONNECT phase 3 trials in premenopausal women with acquired generalized hypoactive sexual desire disorder found improvements in measured desire and related distress with studied bremelanotide relative to placebo; nausea, flushing, and headache were more frequent. The Vyleesi label includes product-specific restrictions and cautions. Trial outcomes do not validate a supplier research vial.

Important limitation

The approved indication and autoinjector safety profile should not be expanded to different populations, formulations, or unregulated vials. No amount, injection, or treatment advice is offered.
