What is Thymalin?

Thymalin is a thymus-tissue extract containing multiple polypeptide components, unlike synthetic Glu-Trp Thymogen or defined thymosin alpha-1. Source species, extraction process, and lot characterization matter for interpretation.

What has research examined?

Older immunochemical work identified thymus-extract antigens in several preparations including Thymalin. A regional clinical report measured changes in immune-cell markers in patients with nonspecific lung disease. Such extract-specific and older observations do not establish controlled treatment effectiveness for separately marketed material.

Important limitation

Animal-derived mixture composition, contamination risks, and biological activity cannot be inferred from a label. No immune treatment, amount, or preparation is recommended.
