What is Larazotide Acetate?

Larazotide acetate is a short synthetic peptide investigated as a regulator of intestinal tight-junction signaling. Clinical development focused on oral administration in celiac disease, not a vial-based injectable application. The studied oral product and a separately sourced powder cannot be equated.

What has research examined?

A multicenter placebo-controlled trial enrolled 342 adults with persistent celiac symptoms despite a gluten-free diet. Some symptom outcomes favored the lowest studied larazotide group, but results were mixed across groups. A separate gluten-challenge trial found no significant difference from placebo in its primary urinary permeability ratio, despite differences in selected secondary immune markers.

Important limitation

Mixed trial endpoints and a formulation-specific oral study do not validate claims about an independently sourced vial or a general gut-healing treatment. This page does not recommend a regimen, preparation, or use.
