Preclinical neurotrophic compound

CNTF-derived mouse-model research

P21 (P021)

P021 is a modified neurotrophic peptide compound investigated in mouse models of neurodegeneration. Mouse learning and synapse measurements do not demonstrate human dementia prevention.

Why there is no compound calculator on this page

The primary mouse research used P021 in diet or maternal exposure, not a standardized human syringe formulation. A generic vial calculator would misrepresent the investigated route and outcomes.

Research overview

What is P21 (P021)?

Peptide 021 (P021) was designed from a ciliary neurotrophic factor-derived short sequence and further modified with an adamantylated glycine moiety. The exact experimental construct matters; a simple catalog abbreviation does not establish identity or product equivalence.

What has research examined?

An original 3xTg-AD mouse study examined prolonged dietary P021 exposure before overt pathology and measured synaptic markers and cognitive tasks. A separate developmental mouse study investigated prenatal-to-postnatal exposure. Neither design establishes a dementia treatment or preventive strategy in humans.

Important limitation

Mouse-model cognition, timing, and delivery cannot be transferred to people or independent vials. No amount, preparation, or use is recommended.
