Ophthalmic tissue-repair research

Thymosin Beta-4 (TB-4)

Thymosin beta-4 is a full-length 43-residue peptide, distinct from the short fragment marketed as TB-500. A topical eye-solution trial missed its primary endpoints.

Why there is no compound calculator on this page

The cited clinical trial tested a defined ophthalmic solution, not a generic injected vial. Full-length TB-4 and short TB-500 fragments differ; a syringe chart cannot bridge those formulations.

Research overview

What is Thymosin Beta-4 (TB-4)?

Thymosin beta-4 is a 43-residue peptide involved in actin-binding and studied in tissue-repair systems. TB-500 is a short derived fragment with separate metabolite data. Data for one cannot be assigned to the other.

What has research examined?

A randomized placebo-controlled phase 2 trial of 72 participants with moderate-to-severe dry eye studied a topical Thymosin beta-4 ophthalmic solution. Its two primary endpoints, ocular discomfort and inferior corneal staining, did not significantly differ at the specified visit, though selected secondary endpoints favored the study solution.

Important limitation

Secondary topical-eye signals cannot establish generalized wound repair or injectable safety. No amount, preparation, or use is suggested.
