Experimental IGF-1 analogue

Long R3 growth-factor research

IGF-1 LR3

IGF-1 LR3 is a modified insulin-like growth factor-I analogue with reduced binding to IGF-binding proteins in experimental systems. Animal and cell-culture findings are not a human muscle-growth claim.

Research overview

What is IGF-1 LR3?

Long R3 IGF-I differs from native IGF-I by an N-terminal extension and an arginine substitution near residue three. These modifications reduce affinity for some IGF-binding proteins. Recombinant Long R3 material is used as a cell-culture reagent, and those laboratory uses do not establish a medicine for independently sourced vials.

What has research examined?

A guinea-pig infusion study compared long R3 IGF-I with other growth factors and measured organ growth and circulating IGF-system components; its authors noted reduced IGF-binding-protein affinity. A newer fetal-sheep experiment did not find the predicted growth benefit in a growth-restricted setting. These results illustrate context-dependent animal effects rather than a reliable human physique or recovery outcome.

Important limitation

Animal growth measures and cell-culture reagents do not establish safety, treatment, or performance effects in humans. The analogue should not be conflated with any approved mecasermin formulation. No amount, schedule, preparation, or use is recommended.

Calculation boundary

The calculator performs concentration arithmetic only when a user enters a mass and liquid volume. It does not verify identity, formulation, purity, sterility, stability, compatibility, biological-unit equivalence, or whether reconstitution applies to a particular product. Do not convert IU or other biological units to mg without an authoritative, exact-product relationship.
